Happy Happy Birthday!!!

Today is my wonderful Logans 23rd Birthday! I just love him so much and I am so glad to be given two weeks in a row to praise him!

I attempted to make a cool cake...if you can see its sinking in the middle...oh well, I guess I'll try again next year!

My handsome husband with his many gifts!

Logans Mom has been with us this last week and on our way to pick her up in Utah we tried out a "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" place and it was DELICIOUS!

Seriously the burgers were HUGE and the onion rings were crunchy and YUMMY!

And I really can't even try to explain the shakes...they were a little piece of Heaven on earth. Speaking of a little piece of Heaven, little Kai sat and watched his Mom and Dad devour the food in the back of the car!

Kai finally got to meet Mimi and Aunt Felicity.  They were all VERY excited to see each other!

Kai met his Great Grandma Holtry... It was love at first sight!

Kai is getting so good at focusing on people. We are enjoying watching him turn his head when he hears our voices!

Aunt Felicity loves baby Kai! He listens very intently while she read to him!

Soaking in the sun at the park!

The park had a fun carousel for Felicity to enjoy.

So thats about it for this week...We are having so much fun enjoying the Rexburg summer weather with our sweet little boy!  Lots of posts to come because I just can't seem to stop!  But as for now....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN...WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

We Love Daddy!!

What a wonderful day it was today... not only was it FINALLY beautiful in Rexburg but I got to celebrate my AMAZING husband and the AMAZING father that he is!  Kai is seriously so lucky to have such a loving, happy and motivated Dad to look up to.  I love him so much!

This picture makes me smile each time...Kai just loves to watch his Daddy!

I took advantage of Fathers Day to dress Kai in all of his "Dad loving" clothes.  I just love those eyes...which are still blue by the way!

Kai is such an alert little boy. He loves to stare out the window!

I made cupcakes for the guys at church. There were basketballs and bbqs with hotdogs (hot tamales).. it was a lot of fun and I was thankful for Logans help!

Kai is growing so fast. He is 3 weeks old 9 lbs 6 oz and 23 inches long. He tries really hard to hold his head up and has just started responding to our faces with his smiles! I just love that little boy!

Kai and Daddy taking a Fathers Day nap. So sweet!!

Ready for bed and sporting another Daddy shirt!

Logan has become such a natural with Kai and I cannot even tell you how thankful I am for all of his help! In my opinion we cannot have enough days to praise our Dad's because they bring such a light and spirit to our homes and I couldn't do it without him!

So thank you all you Dad's out there for being the men that you are and blessing the lives of each of us women!

He keeps growing and growing and growing.....

What an amazing two weeks this has been. I never thought I could be so happy and I feel so blessed to have such a happy little man in my life!

This week Kai had another Dr appointment and in 4 days he went from weighing 7 lbs 6 oz to weighing 8 lbs 8 oz. My little boy is not so little anymore and I am just so happy he is healthy and growing...lets just say he's got the whole eating thing down pat!

Daddy just loves his little boy! After a long night of feedings I wake Logan up when the sun comes out for some "Father Son" bonding time and they love it! Its good for me as well!!!

He's very patient with the constant Paparazzi!

I know I am completely biased but this little boy definitely makes the world a better place...his peaceful nature teaches me daily to take a breath and continue on! He is my little angel and I am quite sure that I have the best job on earth!

Kai's 1st Week

What a wonderful week it has been getting to know our little Kai and his changing routine :)  We quickly realized that Kai is a very chill baby and although he wants food close to 24/7 he rarely cries and even his cry makes everyone smile because it is so dang cute and deep. At his 1st Dr appointment he weighed 7. 45 and then the next day he was weighed again and he weighed 7.65 so as you can see he is a BIG eater!

I really just can't get enough of him!

Daddy loves to watch and mimic all of Kai's faces (and there are a lot!)

Kai absolutely LOVES bath time....something about the warm water and head massage that just calms him down!

All bundled up and warm in his cute little robe.

I love my boys!

He seriously melts my heart!

We have loved having my Mom here and Kai LOVES Grandma and all the extra kisses :)

I love this little pose and yes he did it on his own!

More updates to follow!

Kai's Arrival!

So the day finally arrived.  It all started Saturday morning at 6 am I had to call into the hospital every couple hours to see if they had a room available.  Every failed attempt left me more anxious and frustrated but around noon I was finally given the "okay" to go in at 12:30.

Although I had been waiting to here the good news all day I felt an immediate panic attack as I thought of the hours to come.  I felt so lucky to have a husband to give me a blessing and a beautiful Mom to constantly make me smile!

At 1:30 the Dr came in to break my water and he was REALLY struggling.  He poked and prodded, jammed and pulled with little success.  As far as he could tell my water had not broken and he simply said he would come back later to check.  The nurses started me on pitocin at 1:40 pm.  Ready or not, there was no turning back now!

The pitocin levels were continually raised and as the numbers went up so did my pain.  I tried to listen to the nurses give me various suggestions but once the pitocin was at 14 there was absolutely no dance, hip sway or cooing sound that was going to mask the pain.  The nurse then told me that I should really get my Epidural because the contractions looking really bad.  So I agreed of course and then the waiting game began.  There were other women also waiting for their epidural so I was told it could be a while.  To help curb the pain I was given some kind of special medication, but I quickly realized there was nothing special about it.  Instead of bringing any relief this medication made me VERY loopy which just added another struggle to my contractions.

As time went on and the craziness continued, I began to beg for what I called the "Drug Man".  Logan and my Mom later informed me that I kept saying I wanted to marry the drug man and I just wanted to see him.  After what seemed to be forever of begging the drug man appeared and saved the day...it was honestly the best best BEST thing I have ever been given!  So of course you would expect nothing less then for me to request a picture of my blessed drug man!

After the epidural I fell right to sleep and continued to sleep off and on for three hours.  When I woke up I asked the nurse if she could get the Dr to come in and break my water so that we could try to move things along (since they thought it would be at least 9 more hours until the baby came).  The Doctor (grudgingly) came although he continued to say that it had not been very long so I probably had not progressed a lot.  He began to check me and his eyes got HUGE and he said, "Oh my gosh! You are ready to push.  I feel his head and you are fully dilated!" To this news my mom and Logan began to scream with excitement and I began to cry out of fear that something would go wrong.

As I began to push they were worried because Kai's heart rate was dropping and so they would have me wait in between contractions with oxygen to give him an opportunity to regulate his heart rate.
8 Contractions and a little episiotomy later we welcomed my beautiful 7 lb 6 oz little boy into the world.  The umbilical cord was wrapped 2 times around his neck, which we discovered was the problem with his changing heart rate but the Dr. took charge quickly and cut the cords.

Kai was such a brave little boy as he was poked and monitored while laying on my chest.  He has beautiful skin that was white at birth but now continues to become more of an olive tone.

A little over 24 hours later we were on our way home and could not be more excited! Kai has added such a joy to our life already.  He is a calm baby and LOVES to eat, which we know will change his little body.  As of now he doesn't fit in anything that I have, newborn clothes just hang on him but I don't think it will be long before he chunks up!

More updates will continually come....because lets be honest I just can't stop taking pictures of his sweet little self!
