Welp...its officially out in the open!

Yep thats right, in just one month our little family will be making the move back to California!

We are SUPER excited about:
1. Living near family.
2. Getting our residency back.
3. School, school and more school.  We will eventually be transferring to UCDAVIS and then we will see where we go for Med school.
4. Having more opportunities for Logan's future.
5. Did I mention we would live by family :)
6. BIG CITY!!
7.  Nice weather.
8.  We both LOVE California!!

We are FREAKING out about:
1. Cost of living.
2. Jobs.
3. Making the transition OUT of the bubble.
4. Moving...uggggh...its so expensive to even get out of here!
5. Change...does anybody else hate change...it makes me a nervous wreck!!

It's a CRAZY time for us CRAZY Tataipu's but we really wouldn't have it any other way.
Any moving tips?
Anyone getting rid of boxes?
Anyone know of a cheap way to move a ton of stuff?

We really could use all the help we can get!
California here we come!

  1. We are going to miss you guys! Walmart has lots of boxes-go in the morning and you can usually get 2 cart fulls. Budget (truck) is typically cheaper, but print out the quote and compare to Uhaul; bring in to them, they can reduce it. Bring Kai over so you can have uninterrupted packing time :-)

  2. Congrats! What wonderful news for your family! The best moving advice I can give ya is just do a little packing each day. Don't overwhelm yourself with getting it all done at once. Broulims usually has apple boxes that are double reinforced and great for packing- they're free if you ask for them. Best luck to you!

  4. Hey! It's Jess wright! I read your blog every now and then. My husband and I are moving as well (to Kentucky from California for school) and we found a moving company that picks up, loads your stuff, and drops it off and unloads it (an provides storage of needed). It's costin us $1,128 to move all the way across the country (a dream since it was originally going to be over 2 grand). This is us moving stuff for a 1 bed/studio and up to 2000 pounds. If you are interested the company is green pacific van lines and the number is 888-873-4177. Could be worth a shot :] good luck!

  6. Woohoo!!! That will be so nice for you guys. We have kept some Uhaul boxes since our first move but the majority are free ones from Walmart. (Or ones people getting rid of boxes that just moved into the ward) Check with Walmart in person when is the best time to pick them up because it depends on the department/store. It is usually always in the middle of the night though. And if you let them know ahead of time they are pretty good about setting some aside for you.
As far as moving tips I usually leave a couple suitcases of necessities (bathroom, clothes...etc.) and start packing the rest as soon as I find out. Start patching up holes and that fun stuff too. There always seems to be so much to do at the end that it's nice to not be packing gobs and scrubbing everything all at once.

  7. YAY!!!!! We are so excited you guys are moving out here! We can hang out!!
Change is stressful, and I hate change too, but once you're finally here and everything is moved and done you will be so relieved and happy. And as far as getting out of the "bubble"- you will love being back in your home state- the "bubble" will follow you :)
